Spirit Rain

Wrapped in sheets so warm
Time stands still, frozen in ice
Draw away from the storm-
Away from life's fallen lies

Memories and feelings haunt, unbidden
Like inevitable puddles, reflecting the soul
Search out a kindred mind within-
A manifestation to console

Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
Behold, the oasis I inherit-
Soak my skin, oh tears from the heavens!

  1. I wrote this a couple weeks ago, when I took time to really put into practice Sabbathing. I had set apart this time to find my oasis in God through drawing away from the normal routine, and recognizing his glory in the elements of nature I normally miss. Well, the heavens poured out that morning, so I was stuck in a coffee shop. I didn't expect it to rain, but isn't that how life goes? God knew I needed time to just reflect, and be enlightened by His Spirit within me.
